sI love having Cassie out but sometimes shes in a mischevious chewing mood. Her logic seems to be....

If I think I can't have it, I want it!
If you say I can have it.... I'm not interested.
Lol.

Prior to the photo she was caught chewing a paper plate. She saw me get up to check on her and she walked away. Then I slid the plate toward her, giving permission in her mind, and then she went to chew on something else she thought she couldn't have. lol. Didn't want the paper plate anymore.

Oh, and... also...
Telling them "NO!" just means "wait until I'm not looking and then try again... and be quicker about it..."

LOL... Oh yeah, that too. Cassie is sometimes relentless when she gets an idea in her head. Right now she's trying everything she can to chew on my kids magazines I keep taking her away from. They're on my computer desk.

Timneh is the same way the more i want what she gets back the better. Tug of War is the best game ever so she thinks. Probably because shes so good at it.

That is perfect parrot logic. My Sidney does the exact same thing. My tactic is to overwhelm him a little. I'll completely surround him with things that are ok to chew on when he is on the kitchen counter. He either has to climb over them to get to something else or he will give up and fly to my shoulder.

The only thing that I can reliably give him that he will go after are spoons. For some reason, silverware is the "enemy". He goes bonkers when he has a spoon. If he is on the counter, I need to give it to him away from the edge with some barriers to keep him from falling off the edge and crashing to the floor.

That's a common theme with many parrots. My George will attack spoons like an angry dog and he'll lunge at them so hard sometimes that he does a somersault and he'll roll onto his back and try to murder the spoon with his beak and claws. And if you try to take the spoon, you are an ally of the spoon, and must also be destroyed :p
