I have been staying off the board because of malware issues but I could not stay away without giving you my condolences. I understand losing the first pet you both got as a new couple. The first pet my ex partner and I got together was our Scottish Terrier Mercedes. I raised her and trained her because Lupe has never owned a dog and had no idea how to go about caring for her. It didn't take Lupe long to fall in love with her and our Ragdoll Julianna.

One of the discussions we had to have after our breakup was which animal would go with which person. It was a very hard discussion but had to be done. Lupe wanted to take Mercedes and Julio with her when she moves out and I was to have my Valentino and Julianna.

Now that Lupe's new partner does not want animals in the house Lupe asked me to keep Julio. Because I will have to pay the bills for a two income household myself I simply cannot afford to keep our dog and cat. This saddens me to no end because of no fault of their own Mercedes and Julianna have to find new homes.

I had to come to peace with myself that Mercedes will need to be placed. I am going to continue to try to keep Julianna but down the road I will probably not be able to afford any vet costs for her. I need to do right by both our pets and find people that are able to care for them but will also love them as much as I do.

Mini Mouse was very loved and lived with her people all her life. I can tell by her picture she was well cared for and very very much loved. It is painful to have to say goodby to the first pet you both decided to get together and I am very sorry for your loss.
