From time to time, I have shared my interest in constructing miniatures (houses, vehicles, landscapes), and integrating that hobby with the practice of mindfulness.

If a quick definition is helpful.... mindfulness is a mental state (sometimes pursued through meditation) which is achieved by focusing awareness on the present, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Mindfulness is used as a spiritual and/or therapeutic technique, with the goal of enhancing peace and wellbeing. It's an important element o f my [alleged] mental health. :)

I have a blog - "Miniatures and Mindfulness". The Rickeybird plays his part now and then.

If you'd like to have a look...

True dat!
Most of the blog is pretty photo-intensive, but every now and then I turn on my verbiage machine!

Beautiful, Gail!! Wish I had 1/10th of your creativity, patience, and nimbleness of construction.

I recently joined an N-scale train club to salve my appreciation of miniature. But I haven't taken the time to mentally place myself "within" the beauty in my midst. Perhaps I ought take some time to gaze into a scene and integrate myself into an altered reality of calm and serenity.

It can be a whole "world", Scott! I recommend the movie "Welcome to Marwen".

By the way, Scott, thanks for your compliments on creativity, but i have seen your miniatures, and the precision and scale perfection are jaw-dropping.

Hmmm, kind of like becoming one with the wind, water and the sailboat. More feeling what is needed to keep in balanced state.

Absolutely, Mr. Boats, absolutely. You'd have to tie me up and shanghai me to get me on a boat, but... I STILL recognize the feeling... WHEREVER ya get it. The fit, the balance. Absolutely.
