Mini Macaws

So I've done a lot of research on mini macaws and the smaller cockatoos and I wanted to see if anyone has any personal experiences with the mini macaws. Also I wanted some pros and cons of "the" mini macaw and which mini macaw out of the 7 you'd recommend. I live in a house not an apartment so noise isn't an issue and i have a decent sized cage. I don't know the exact dimensions. I already have a caique and a green cheek conure so I've had some experience and I think I'm ready for a larger bird. All advice and recommendations are/is greatly appreciated!

Edit: I understand all the care and time I'll have to put forth and I know it's a lot of hard work. I understand that it's a lifelong commitment.

Any except the severe macaw is the recommendation I always see since they overbond far too easily, meaning they have greater difficulty than the other macaws accepting being handled by someone other than you. they easily and readily become one person birds to a greater degree than others.

As our most vocal macaw expert Mark says, they require more socialization work than others.

I have a illiger macaw named Rio. I can only speak about mine experiences with my mini-macaw. She is 5 years old and she is a lovely and easy going macaw. She loves to be with us and interact with us. She is very quiet. I never hear her scream. (except when I am cleaning out the dishwasher . But maybe that is because I have always ignored her screaming, so she knows she doesn't get any attention when she screams.

I also have a military macaw, Maui. And although Maui is much bigger don't let the size of a mini fool you. Rio is a real macaw and her way of behaving is the same as Maui does. She is a real macaw only she came in a small package .

I believe that it is important to understand that for any number of reasons, a Thread may not get the number of responses that one would hope.

When it comes to the question of; which Parrot maybe better than another that places individuals in an uncomfortable position. In most cases individuals tend to 'Fall In Love' with a specific Parrot or species and that it! So, although they have hands on experience with their Parrot, they may have limited experience with the other(s).

In addition, individuals may believe that what has been Posted is about what they would have Posted. So no reason to repeat. Add to that the larger number of individuals that just like to read and learn, and tend not to Post very often.

Add to all of this, regardless of species, every individual Parrot has its on personality and regardless of the species they are truly who they are!

You have spent the time and energy to determine, which Species is best for you. Now its time to find the Parrot who Falls in Love with you! Please look at rehoming an older Parrot!
