Mini Macaws?

hello, i am interested in mini macaws. i wouldnt be able to get one any time soon, but they really interest me so i'd love to know stuff like their lifespan, behavior, how they are with other birds (i have a GCC) so on and so forth. cheers



edit: specifically hahn's macaws, i love the smaller birds!

There have been quite a few threads and posts about mini macaws lately. Do you have a specific species in mind?

I don't have personal experience with one but I figured I'd point you in the right direction.

You can also use the "search" function to see what comes up. Not very many members have them so there's no telling who will see this thread and when.

I have a Yellow Collared. Her name is Loki, and she is MAGNIFICENT. She is by FAR the smartest bird in our family (We have a Military, Amazons and a Cockatoo). She is EXTREMELY devoted to me, but loves her Birdy Daddy as well. She is so motivated to trick train, that I can train her on a full stomach, and she's still mad into it.
I cannot sing the praises of Mini Macaws enough. I love Hahns Macaws also. I don't have one, but they look like they are a blast.

They're a little more defensive than big macs on some levels... but other than that, they're macaws. Playful, loving pair bond birds if properly socialized...

Their life expectancy tends to be shorter in the 25 to 30 year range.

Severe's are the one bird I tend to be a bit leary of, which does not mean they are all bad birds, but it does mean that they do tend to have "one person" issues, and therefore need extensive socialization in order to not be "bitey" around strangers. (Most people who get them don't do the work, and end up with a problem biter. These are pair bond birds. It's in their nature. It's not the bird's fault.)
