Mildly allergic to Jet. help please

So I knew right away that I'm mildly allergic to Jet. It only really bothers me when he shakes on my shoulder and sends a plume of dust and dander into my face.

I prefer natural remedies when I can so I bought some ferns that I believe to be bird safe. I'm making plant hangers for them. Then I am going to put them up.

On a side note he's cool now but when. I first started making them Jet was afraid of the yarn.

Plants help clear the air, but regular baths help tremendously with dander. Try to get him in the habit with bathing regularly with bowls of water offered daily, and/or misting. Cigarette smoke is also extremely detrimental to birds...to their lungs, eyes, air sacs and skin, so if your mom could smoke outside that would help a lot .

I so sympathize with you, I am deathly allergic to dust.

As a professional tropical horticulturist I have the unfortunate task of letting you know that no plants will fix this. A fern 20 feet away won't help when your beauty shakes himself on your shoulder. Indoor plants help some, but not enough by stretch of the imagination. They are only as helpful with stuff like feather dust in the sense that dust falls on their leaves and you wipe it off, just like you would any other flat surface.

I am bird less at the moment, but I know there are things you can do to to help cut down the feather dust, like daily birdie baths. I'll let others instruct you own these matters.

I can only add that a good air filter may help with your allergies.

Baths help a lot. I don't know if he likes them or is merely tolerating them. He just sits there while I gently shower him in the sink with the veggie sprayer.

I ordered air purifiers today.

I have asthma and the dust / danger bother me. I use Air Purifiers and anything to raise the humidity in the air will help. The peels from any fruit he /she has eaten put into a pot on the stove and simmer now and then will also make thinks smell great and help with dry air.

The air purifier is amazing. Prior to getting it I had a reaction so bad Iggota rrespiratory infection. Since getting it no noticeable reaction to his dander. Also next molt I'm gonna wear a surgicaa mask when he's with me. That helps too.
