Hi. I came home from work tonight, and while I was sniffing and kissing my baby Yellow Collared Macaw, I detected the faint odor of mildew around her shoulder and face. Needless to say, I am not only perplexed, but alarmed.
She just showered with me this morning, as she does 2-4 days a week. We bring a spray bottle mister in the shower and use it when she doesn't want to actually shower. I smelled it, sprayed it, and smelled my arm where I sprayed it. No mildew smell....we change the water every time anyway.
I smelled what she was eating; birdie bread. No mildew smell.
Smelled her bowls, which are cleaned daily, no smell.
Just her face & shoulder.
Should I be alarmed? I mean I am. I'm concerned for her health. Isn't mold potentially fatal? Should I thoroughly bathe her immediately?
Any suggestions?
