Valentino - Red Fronted Macaw - Hatched August 12, 2012
Almost 18 years ago I took home from the breeders a 2 and half month old Noble Macaw. We named him Mihijo and I had the pleasure of living with him for almost 18 years.

This was no where near long enough.

Mihijo was not just a pet parrot, he was my best friend, my companion, my light. We have had many adventures together over the years and everyone that has met Mihijo could not help but love him. He was a gregarious, love of life kind of parrot. Mihijo loved everyone he came in contact with and has always left a positive impression with anyone who had met him.

I have so many stories of Mihijo, some funny as all get out, some very sad and heart wrenching and am in the process of writing them down so I shall never forget them. Mihijo was an exceptional parrot and he is sorely missed member of my life.

I'm sorry for your loss. That's a silly pic of him in the food bucket. He looks like a joy to have around.

I'm so sorry for your loss :( I love that picture with his beak in his food tub! He looks like a wonderful little character.

Thats such a good idea to write all your memories down so you can remember all the good times!

I am so sorry for your loss, he is flying free and watching over you

I'm so sorry. Feel free to share memories of your friend when you feel the need to.

Sorry to hear about this. The pics put a smile in my heart but I know you are grieving and nothing can take that away. I pray the Lord takes care of you during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. :( May he rest in peace. Hold onto the memories and the photos and remember the joy he brought you. <3

:( sorry for your loss.

I personally would LOVE to hear any story you would be willing to share with us regarding ANY of your birds, here, there or soon to be.
He was a lucky bird to share his time here with a person who cared for him as much as you did.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, I feel your pain
You have wonderful pictures, and such great memories in your heart
You were both blessed to have shared each day together
Hugs X X

Thank you all for your kind responses. Because he died on Sunday his loss is so fresh, raw and painful I am trying my best to deal with the fact he is no longer in my life.

I have written some of the stories before he had died. For a writing class I took over the summer I wrote about all three of my parrots. Unfortunately Mihijo was the only one left as I lost Diego last summer and Joaquin in Dec 05.

To help with my grieving process I have been blogging about my loss also. Some of the posts are pretty deep and emotional. Mihjio has been so much a part of my life since I brought him home. It is so hard not to have him with me anymore. I am not so sure if the timing is good but I have been planing and paying on a RFM for over a year. After quarrentine Valentino and Mihijo's cages were going to be side by side so that they could keep each other company when I was not able to.

Now Valentino will be my only parrot. I think eventually I will get another parrot but the thought of some body else in Mihijo's cage I can't. Maybe someday but not now.

I have been told that Valentino's arrival and required care will help me heal. I think this is true and I even though my first impulse was to cancel delivery I cannot do that now. I feel it would be wrong because we have planned for him for so long.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. :( The emptiness in your heart must be so very painful.

Valentino WILL help you - I am sure of it.

Hugs to you.

I am so sorry for your loss - Mihijo's character surely comes through in those pictures & I'm imagining him being reunited with his friend Joaquin (I assume that's Joaquin in the 3rd picture?) and both of them & Diego watching over you.

I hope you find peace & I think the new RFM will help.
