Well today midnight has been home for two weeks now and even tho it has gone quick it feels like a life time. In a good way. I have bonded with midnight so deeply its not funny. But heres an update..

She can almost poke her tongue out on command, she does it about 50%
She can roll on her back
She has weaned on her formula
She has been outside twice and had her harness on three times
She is playing with her foraging tree
She has almost learnt how to control the level of her bites
She recalls 94% of the time, without clicker or treats. With clicker and treats 100% with me.

The bad,
She gets so excited at dinner she bites, and has bitten hard drawing blood, but shes learning and getting better
She wants to try all the food we have, good or bad, so very hard to tell no, she doesn't like hat word. Rofl
She hates going to bed
She hated her cage, now she only dislikes it.
She hates being on the floor as she is flighted.
She hates water and baths, and i mean hates.

Other than that parenthood is awesome, i am truly in love with her and love training. Love being outside with her and cant wait for full blown free flight, albeit years away. I love seeing her fly.

So there you have it, the ups and downs of a 5month old baby and the learning curves involved with first time parents.

Congrats.....sounds like she's well on her way to having you just where she wants you.....

What you need to prepare yourself for is the time she tells you to turn out the lights, it's time for bed.....

Thank you for the update. Midnight is coming along so nice even with the bad stuff. I am going though the same thing with Valentino with the "learning appropriate pressure and biting thing". He now knows what "gentle" means and will check himself when given the command. A couple of things I really don't like are his propensity to land on top of my head. I don't know what it is but those talons gripping my scalp makes me tense up so much I can't stand it. Valentino will land most of the time on my hand/arm but when I have not called him to me or don't present my arm/hand to land on he will still land on my head.

I also don't like the Tarzan thing he does with my long hair. He will hang from my hair and laugh like a rabid outbreak monkey. Then he starts pulling my hair and grabbing at the back of my neck and ends up scratching up the back of my neck with his pointy beak. Sometimes he licks my neck and below my ear it sends shivers down my back and freaks me out. He has gotten heavier so I have a pound of parrot hanging off my hair and it hurts. LOL

Yeh we did have the same problem with mn landing on our heads, we would shake her off wait till she relands somewhere then walk up and tell her shoulder or arm only, she got it pretty quick.

As for the hair thing iam not sure what to suggest, mine is a grade 2crew cut and my wife only has short hair too.

Ohh managed to harness her again today and take her outside with the help of alot of treat nuts, but she is getting much better.

Midnight is coming along so well. Valentino is a handful but I love that about him. Yes, there are days I wonder about grilled parrot but in the end I love him very much.

I wish it would get warm enough for me to take Valentino outside. Tomorrow it will be...32 degrees..BURRRR....
