Midnight-B&G Macaw
Well at the title says i found out today that midnight will be coming home soon, estimate is 3-4 weeks, i truly cannot wait. Heres part of the email from the breeder,

"Midnight is still a pain in the butt - always wants to be
the first out of the cage to be fed - refuses to sit on the concrete perch
and is on two feeds a day. She is able to fly and certainly not a lady!!!!
At this rate I envisage she will be ready to go in about 3 - 4 weeks"

So yeh the count down is on, its been so long since we first saw her beginning of dec.

Ill keep you updated as i know more.

That is awesome news! Congrats on Midnight finally getting to come home soon. Or should I say finally wanting to wean. LOL

I do know what you are going through with the waiting on a macaw to wean. My baby Green Wing will be 5 months old soon & the breeder tells me she is no where near wanting to start eating solid foods. So I don't even have a tentative date to strive for, but I would never want her to be forced into weaning. We have the rest of our lives to spend together, so another month or two or maybe more won't be so bad.

How super exciting!!! :D And what a pretty name you've picked. I love it!

Are you able to visit Midnight until she comes home? I cracked up when your breeder wrote: "She is able to fly and certainly not a lady!!!!" LOL. Sounds like you will have your hands full...and that makes it SO much fun. :D

Yea Turquoise, that waiting is a bummer, especially with GW's since they seem to take a lot longer to wean than most of them. Our Zon's weaned out twice as fast as the GW's did, especially when it came to the baby food, they absolutely LOVED that stuff!! I could probably offer them some today and they'd take it.:54: Luckily I we were able to wean 4 of them out ourselves so we got them pretty young.

Thank you turquoise, its definatly a slow process. Meaning the days seem to go slower. But in the end i agree we will have a lifetime to make up for it. The breeder where she comes from does not force wean them either, but atm there is 6 in a flight avery of different stages so i am guessing they are learning from the older ones.

Jersywendy - currently not at this stage its just too difficult for the breeder, due to the number he has to deal with, i can understamd as well given i have seen all of the babies he is rearing atm. But thats ok we have been fortunate to be apart of the growing process. He normally doesnt let people in on that side of it. But he took and risk and trusted us. So were very happy about that

Heres a couple of vids i have done of her

Thank youevery one for the kind words. It is hard but we will get there.

Oh copper, thats my wife not the breeder. She is technically the official owner of midnight.

You must be sooo excited to bring her home, trust me, the time will fly by quickly and she will be home in no time! :D
