As the title says, midnight comes home on friday had a great chat with the breeder and he has decided to let us finish off her weaning, its only a night feed, but we are so excited.

2 DAYS AND SHE COMES HOME.

Woohoo

And the wait is almost over for ya'll! That is great news. When they are on one nightly feeding a day it usually goes smoothly & then the next thing you know Midnight will not want that feeding.

I also look forward to seeing pics of your new baby.

I bet you can't wait for your baby to come home. I remember when the breeder told me Valentino would be ready in two weeks but was already eating on his own. I asked her if sending him home in a week would be alright since I am experience with baby regression (all my babies needed some hand feedings after they came home) so she agreed to send Valentino home a week early.

As predicted Valentino did regress after he got here. I guess I would too if I had to fly from Texas to MN during a snow storm on top of taking a connected flight in Denver. I hand fed him three times a day for almost two weeks then went down to two hand feedings. Valentino quickly graduated from the daytime hand feedings within 3 weeks and I was able to put about 20 grams on him in that first three weeks. I still give him the before bed night feeding but will be switching from baby formula to pulverized adult pellets he eats for the night feedings when the baby formula runs out.

I thought Valentino was a bit lean when he first came here but Dr. Blair said his weight was fine. I do fly him a lot so he can lose up to 20 grams a day flying around the house. Valentino hit 7 months old yesterday and I am pleased with his appetite (he eats all his fresh foods daily along with his pellets) and he seems to be holding steady at about 450 grams.

Don't be surprised if your baby wants some day time hand feedings. Valentino was weaned when he came here but I did hand feed him at the beginning to help with weight and to help with bonding. I know I could probably cut out the night before bed hand feeding but I want to be able to use a syringe on him if I need to to administer meds or what not. the night feeding he takes no more than 30 cc's. I have noticed he will take about 45 cc's (syringe and a half) if I have flown him quite heavy that day.

I can't wait to see pics of your new baby!!!

How exciting!! Congratulations! I would not be able to sleep...I'd keep myself busy building toys and perches lol. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new baby! :D

Well we got everything ready then had a phoe call.

The dreaded phone call

We cant pick her up tomorrow, the breeder isnt happy she is still wanting 60ml or baby food, so now he is saying sunday. Very frustrating i must admit.

Anyway sunday it is , another three ays sigh.

Don't you just hate waiting. I remember when I was a kid, me and my brother were so excited one xmas morning that we got ahead of ourselves and woke up our parents at 2AM as we couldn't wait to open our presents. THEY WERE NOT HAPPY!!!
I then remember literally staring at the clock for 6 straight hours watching the seconds move past like minutes.

Dont worry, I'm waiting a bit longer for my girl too... she got a bit upset at one of her feathery friends leaving the breeder and was needing some supplementary feeding. I opted to wait another two weeks to be sure since I'm a first timer.

just be thankful that you have a good breeder & they are doing wuts best for the bird :) congrats! i get to pick up my baby green cheek in 1 hr!!! i am doing a nightly hand feeding also... way too excited right now... not even paying attention in class lol
