So a while ago I posted on here concerned for Nimbus because she was chewing the coating off her cage bars, we went to the vet and got X-rays and she was given the all clear. I try to discourage her when I see her doing it but every now and then there'll be little metal shavings on the bottom of the cage.

Anyway my new concern is that we've recently moved and I've been keeping a close eye on her because she was quite stressed being moved, and today I found what appeared to be little metal shavings in her poop, I can't be 100% sure that's what it is but it sure looks like it (all other poops have been clear). Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before? She's vocalising, and eating drinking playing as she always does though her cere looks a little irritated but she is moulting.
She's had so many health concerns in this short time I've had her, I'm running out of ideas, please be gentle.

If I were you I would suggest taking a sample of the poop to the vet. If this is a consistent problem you should consider another cage without a coating she can chew off. Better safe than sorry!

The only cage that would prevent it all would be stainless steel, and unfortunately a lot of things have happened this year and I don't have the money for it, unless there are other kinds of hardier cages?
Thank you for replying =)

What type of cage are you using that Nimbus is already chewing off the coating??? If your using thin gauge cages made for Cockatiel and small birds, I would suggest you go with a thicker gauge grade of cage a size up for a bit bigger birds.

I have a thick gauge cage and she's chewed A LOT of the inside off but has calmed down a lot compared to a few months ago. At the moment she's in a thin gauge cage just because I couldn't fit her cage in my car, so she's in the conure cage and the conures are in a small cage.
I've just butchered the bottlebrush in the backyard for something else to destroy, the seed things on the bottlebrush are safe aren't they?

Wow, she's a chewer!!! I guess you need to provide her with plenty of chew toys to chew on. As far as I know all parts of the bottle brush plant is safe for birds. I actually planted a few in my yard and they were expensive to buy here but neither one made it and never seen them again in the stores....

She has so much to chew on, but occasionaly gets bored and chews metal -.- I don't know if she has another deficiency, when we got her she was vitamin deficient and had to get some form of vitamin injection. She's methodically going through the branches I put in eating off all the seed pods, success!!! Until she gets bored next...

She just did another poop, no signs of metal, perhaps it was just some form of seed hull from the pellets? Being a parront has made me so paranoid when it comes to these three.

Oh the worrying never stops! You just don't know what you got yourself into....lol....

That's what my conures are like, they don't ever stop! Nimbus is more of a terminator of all things, if something catches her eye she will do everything she can to get to it to kill it! (after she drags it up to the highest perch for killing of course)
