My 7yo parakeet is still regurgitating on its perch , this started as only a once a year thing, now is everyday, what a mess. Messy gets it on its feet, the back of its neck. All over its beak, It also "plays" with a favorite toy. My previous keets never did this, I guess I'm lucky that my bird loves me so much.
This must be normal, because Messy seems happy and healthy.
Messy won't step up to my finger because it associates my hand with feather trimming. I haven't trimmed in five years, but they never forget. But Messy will sit on my shoulder all day. Today Messy flew into its cage and stared at the area where it's bath usually is, but it wasn't there, so Messy came out to tell me to put it back in, I did, then Messy took a bath. Too smart. Parakeets are fun ,but they are Messy.

Birds sure can be messy! That sounds like a lot of regurgitating, it may be a good idea to get him checked out, just to be on the safe side:)
I'd love to see pictures of your baby!

I can't figure out how to upload photos. Messy is a blue keet, with a yellow head. Standard bird. Thanks for your interest

Here's a link to help you post photos.

It's just my opinion, but it sounds like your budgie has more going on than just regurgitating to show affection. It's hard to tell by physical observation if a bird is healthy, parrots hide symptoms as long as they can. I would schedule a visit with an avian vet to make sure the regurgitation isn't vomiting. It wouldn't hurt to have a thorough exam for your peace of mind as well.

I agree with Allee to get Messy checked out. You should also remove any toy that your parrot loves too much - regurgitating for etc. Its not good for them to become overly attached as it can lead to them becoming too hormonal which can lead to other issues (egg binding, feather mutilation, aggression, etc). We had to do this with our conure - its not a problem to remove a toy that they like, they'll be OK. Just rotate and put a new one in.

Sissy will regurgitate mid morning ...on my face near my mouth...like she's trying to feed me and when I back away she gets mad..but I'm trying to stop it...it's cute but not good

I will remove the toy. It happens to be a little plastic ball hanging from a leather strip with a smaller ball /bell inside to make noise that Messy has "chewed" apart. Time for a new rope toy. Good advice, thanks.

That doesn't sound too healthy. I know we treat our pets as family but that's too close for me. Thanks for your interest.

Not at all since I cleaned up her cage and replaced her "favorite " toy.
