Merlin took a bath

Merlin is feeling good now and yesterday decided she wanted a bath. She was trying to get into the little water bowl on her playstand and that wasn't working out. So I gave her this large plastic dog dish I had bought for Pete, and she happily bathed for a good 20 minutes. Boy, did it make a mess though, lol! It's definitely not like when a conure bathes. I know from her previous owners that she doesn't like to go in the shower or be sprayed. At first I thought it was a bit of a pain that Pete wouldn't take his own bath, but now that I've seen a larger bird doing it, it's easier for them to go into the shower, lol!

It was fine though. I just had to wipe down the floor and the playgym and of course get rid of the paper in the tray. Pete thought it was great to watch. He cheered her on. I'm just glad she feels better and that she enjoyed her bath.

I think she would like a humidifier though. Between our forced air heat and the wood burning stove the air in this house is very dry. Does anyone else have one for their Grey? It would probably help me, too. If so can you recommend one that you know is bird safe?

Oh my gosh, now she just said, "How are you?" in this voice that sounded like a monster from a horror movie. I totally cracked up! That is not the voice of her former owners, lol!

I've been thinking of getting an air purifier for myself. I know that they have warm air humidifiers, and cool humidifiers. I think I heard that the latter doesn't encourage mold, if that's an issue.

How funny!!! I'm glad she's feeling better and comfortable enough to take a bath. :)

I will have to look at that warm air/cool air thing. It's an old, dry house so I don't think it would grow mold, but obviously mold is not a good thing. I am all dried out as well as I am every winter. I do have a cast iron pot on top of the wood stove right now to put some moisture into the air.

Is there such a thing as an air purifier/humidifier? I will have to look. I do have a lot of allergies and I noticed when Pete first moved in, mine flared up. But now that he is getting regular showers, that has helped a bunch. I suspect a cockatoo might kill me though!

I put a pot of water next to or on the heater so it puts water in the air as it heats. The 3rd floor only has a plug in oil/electric heater so I put the water right on top. Perhaps this would work for you? Maybe put a pot in front of the wood stove. Glad to hear she liked her bath. I'm so happy for you.

I'm going to try a bowl of water for Milo. He isn't comfortable enough for me to take him in the shower & I was told he's petrified of spray bottles.

Oh I wish we could have seen that. Rosie goes in the shower, bathes in a bowl and gets sprayed so she is a multi bathing gal.

I don't have a video camera or internet on my phone. It was pretty funny though and wow, what a mess, lol!

She's still saying "How are you?" in that monster voice, lol! She is such a little lady that was the last sort of voice I expected to come out of her!
