Green-cheeked Conure "Skittles" - now, sadly gone from my life
Blue-Crowned Conure "Tequila"
African Grey "Reno" - sadly, now gone from my life
This is our fancy green-cheek conure "Skittles", so-named because he's pretty much (as the candy company's advertising claims) "all the colors of the rainbow!". As soon as we got him, he bonded to my wife, although he likes everybody. His personality matches his name - he's bright, perky, and playful.
And cute, of course - he has huge, heaping, steaming bucketfuls of cute, and he knows it.
In this picture, he's "helping" mom with her crocheting. He's very gentle about it, and doesn't chew through the yarn, although he does fly off with the crochet needles on occasion, laughing all the way.
His favorite toys, though, are some large hard plastic "Angry Birds" cat toys. He plays with them for hours on end, carries them to the top of his cage and, with great ceremony, drops them all the way down into his water dish. Water everywhere, of course. Then, he runs down, collects it, carries it all the way to the top, and does it again. What fun!
On occasion (but ONLY when no one is looking!) he'll lay on his back in the bottom of his cage, balance one of the Angry Birds on his feet, and play with it. Of course, he needs a bath after that, because he always does this where he's just pooped. If he even suspects anyone is watching this trick though, he instantly moves up onto his perch and adopts a "What? What are you looking at?" pose. We have no idea why...
We've never had him sexed but, owning to his frequent (and enthusiastic) humping of his various soft toys, we suspect he's a boy
