Here is a picture of our rescued zon, Jackie!

Beautiful!!!! <3 She's still doing ok? No issues so far?

Yes!! She's doing awesome! 14 phrases and counting, and various fun noises... Not too much screaming other than the normal morning zon "song" hahha. It took me 2 days to get her cage cleaned, but I got it done and I've been leaving her door open, hoping she'll come out.

I got another post that says Jackie may be a tucsom, not a Mexican red-head.... Can anyone positively ID Jackie???

I googled both, and my completely in-expert and easily discounted opinion is that she is in fact a Mexican Red Headed Parrot.

I hope I got it right! LOL!

Oh, bummer :/ I've seen some pictures of red heads that have streaks of blue on them..? Jackie does not have any other color than red on her head... And some red on her wings

Oh, I have no idea if Jackie is male or female :/ can you tell with amazons by plumage and/or behavior?

I have seen females that seem to have less red on their heads. I dont know if its a female thing or just a juvenile thing. & yes he does have the peacock blue 'eyebrows' over his eyes. I'll try after work to post a photo.

Ok, thanks for the info... I don't know how old these birds are either :/ I'm hoping someone in the previous owner's family will remember.

Juvenile??? So does that mean of Jackie is younger I might have to deal with hormonal stages??? :/

Richard, (henpecked) is the resident 'zon expert. It may be the picture, but Im thinking Jackie could be something else.

I looked at the picture...Merlin looked all puffed up lol Jackie doesn't have any blue on her head though.

Ok, thanks to MonicaMc, we've figured out that Jackie is a Tucuman -not a Mexican red head/green cheek!!
