DANY (Female Alexandrine)
LOla (IRN/ARN?)
Poncho (Male Cinnamon Cockatiel)
Aside from my fascination with ekkies I've always admired the beauty of Alexandrines. I bought my DANY a few weeks ago and she's been great aside from a few playful bites. She's cage mates with her friend LOla the IRN/ARN

Dany is still a baby.. She still has a bit of Grey on her breast.

At what age will it go away?

The breeder I bought DANY from was feeding her colored Zupreem Fruit blend pellets.. Are colored pellets ok for Alexandrines? I know with ekkies it's bad to feed them colored pellets..

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

My Beaks joined the family at around six months of age. They still had odd grey downy feathers poking out. They're nearly a year old now and going through their first moult. I've noticed plenty of the grey feathers falling, so I guess they'll be replaced when the moult is over. (Not sure how long that might take, though). Alexes are *wonderful*!!! I hope you and Dany have a great time together! :D

What a cutie. I agree Alexandrines are awesome. Diesel is approx. 9 months and moulting flat out. Looking forward to seeing his new plumage, they are spectacular birds. :green::22:

I don't know anything about Alex but please feed her what she's been weaned on for now. Any change in diet should be done slowly and your main concern at the moment should be for her to eat and to adjust well to her new home.

Oh I was fully aware and continued to feed her normal diet. It was simply out curiosity that i asked that question.

Shes doin great and is fully adjusted. She's even used to riding in the car with me.

and she is currently finishing her molt.. she is nippy so I give her 2 baths a week to ease with the itchiness of the pin feathers..

She also lost her 2 longest tail feathers! Luckily they are coming back in beautifully.
