Hi everyone!

I thought it is time to introduce my new baby, Charlie! He is a 10 month old Congo African Grey that moved in on Wednesday when his owner had to give him/her (lol) up due to her mom who has demensia hitting at the cage etc.

He still seems a bit jumpy and restless but I hope will settle down soon when he sees that all is calm. Does anyone know how long it normally takes for a rehomed CAG to settle into a new environment? . I know all birds are different, but please share your experience with me?

Another question for those with more experience...:)... my Mustache Parakeet, Milo is now five years old. I have had two little budgies in a cage next to his for most of the time, before Charlie showed up. I must say that Milo seems much less fazed by the newcommer than I thought he would be, but he has always been the boss here. Do you guys think it possible that he would make friends with Charlie? Charlie's previous home had another grey who was the alpha. Do you guys find that age or size has an influence on who is the alpha bird in your flocks? Or more attitude? I do make an effort to give Milo first attention etc so that he knows he is not being replaced.

Sorry for the long post, first time grey owner here, lol, and I want to make sure I do things right by both my babies!

Sorry guys, I can not seem to upload a pic from this page, but you can see Charlie, Milo and the two little monsters on my profile page!

CAGS can be skittish to changes in environment. And my CAG is an extremely active bird on top of it. They are also very independent, and tend to get handled on their own terms. The more you press, the more they fight you on it.

They study everything, and everybody. You can almost see the little wheels turning. When they have "observed" enough to decide this is a good place, they settle down.

A little reassurance goes a long way with these guys...

Congratulations! Charlie is a very handsome bird.
