Hey guys!!! Well he is home and doing great, but like very mommy i wonder if i am doing enough!!! He slept all night the last two nights, or so I think. I woke up in the middle of the night to check on him and he was sleeping and i woke him and he hissed at me!! haha He loves to eat anything you give him. He has already had carrots, watermelon, and peanut butter. I am grocery shopping today. He also loves a mix of zupreem and harrisons large pellets. He loves chewing on his wooden toys but I also gave him a bottle cap and he enjoyed it very much along with paper bags. Overall a VERY friendly bird. I have read that when you bring a new bird home he should stay in cage for a few days, but he is very comfortable here, so he hangs out with me a little bits at a time, i don't want to rush things and he gets cuddles on his neck and goes on his playstation and watches TV with us at night. We also introduced him to two friends yesterday and he did AMAZING! Perched right now, no agrees ion, no bitting, nothing! So he is on a good road. I am having ONE problem and need your help. He seems to like his leg band very tight on his foot, because we have had to restrain him 2 times to get it to be circular and 2 min later he bites it and squishes it. This may be a sign of stress, but he does not seem stressed, and the band does seem to bother him a bit, because at times he puts the leg up, he does rest his body weight on that leg, so it might just be coinsidence that he is lifting up the banded leg. I am taking him to vet tomorrow, but he has had all his blood work and checkups done already by the place i bought him from, but i gotta figure out a solution for this band.

Here are some pictures!!!
One of him with his Daddy, one enjoying the dessert view outside the window, and one with me on my shoulders enjoying a plastic fork!!!

His name is Aro as you guys saw and he about 1 year and a half. :blue1:

Hello to you and Aro. He looks lovely. I can't give you any advice on his band but i'm sure someone will chime in soon enough.

Aro is very beautiful. As for his leg band, he may be squeezing it as an effect of attempting to find a way to remove it. You should be able to have the vet remove the band for you. That would eliminate the problem. If Aro continues to crimp the band, it could put significant pressure on his tendons and blood vessels. If microchipping is available in your country you might consider it as an alternative identification method.

Best of luck to you and Aro! :)

Thank you! Yeah he is micro shipped already. He was born in Holland and lives in Dubai now with me, but will go back to Miami with us when we move back, so I wasn't sure if to remove it because of import/export drama! But yeah that is my fear, circulation and bleeding... Birds don't have much blood!! Also anybody have any tips on taking birds camping!! I was thinking of taking him in his carrier and having him hang on a stand and sleep in the carrier inside tent with us obviously. I will also have him on a harness while hanging with us, you never know any other animals that might be around. Any tips?? I know that a lot of training goes into this and one step at a time, but he does not mind drives, he was on a 1 hour drive from pet shop to my house and was very calm, he would also commute from petshop to managers house often in his carrier. But being outdoors, i'm not sure how comfy he is with that, I also gotta get him trained to wear a harness!!

Personally, I wouldn't rush him into a camping setting or even into wearing a harness (i.e., if he's not used to wearing one already). From your description he sounds to be calm and comfortable with new things and new people. But, in my opinion, it's always best to let them adapt to a new environment before laying too much upon them.

Congrats. on your new addition. Aro is very beautiful. he does sound like he loves his new Mommy & Daddy. Its great when they are comfortable with a new place so soon.

Mine have the closed bands that can't be squished easily, & I don't have problems with them bothering it. Hopefully the vet. has an idea on what to do for the band. Good luck with Aro.
