Hi everybody. I currently have a green cheek conure and am considering adopting a 15 year old mealy green amazon parrot. Anyone else have this combo? How do they get along?
They'll be caged separately, and in different rooms. They're both males, and my green cheek is seven years old. I've had him since he was three months old.

I would think the GCC would be the issue. You always take a chance when addding a new flock member. The fids don't like it. Have you tried fostering and see how he reacts? Mealies are are great flock birds, They get along. Conures are trouble.Just my .02 worth
Yeah, my green cheek used to hide in the cat bed and attack her ears when she laid down. He's calmed down some but I don't want him to piss off the amazon. In your experience, would they call to each other or yell if they were in different rooms or I had one out and one caged in the same room? Sorry for all tje questions, I'm just trying to get a feel for the situation.
Also, the amazon is being fostered at a local pet shop so I'm not sure about a trial run.
I posted in your conure thread too, but my conures don't talk to my amazon and she doesn't talk to them, they just try to fly on her cage or join her on top of it every chance they get. And my peach front mix is the most in love with my mealy amazon. My conures just talk to eachother, and they don't call to my CAG either. I don't let them hang out together too, she is so much larger than them and she doesn't like them on her cage so I haven't bothered with trying to see if they could be friends and hang out. Also she is upstairs and the conures and CAG are downstairs.
