Thanks. He's trying me with this weaning process, he's almost off formula, but he still wants it once a day. Is that normal? Or within norms? He's sitting on the computer table mumbling to me. Love this guy
very normal. One day he will just refuse the formula and that will be it. I offer some to Salty every now and then, he takes a few spoonfuls and then he is done!
Senegal Parrot named "Kane"; Yellow-Sided Green Cheek Conure named "Bowie"; Blue Quaker Parrot named "Lita Ford"; Cockatiel named "Duff"; 8 American/English Budgie Hybrids; Ringneck Dove named "Dylan"
He's absolutely adorable! Yes, very normal for them to still want a hand feeding here and there, think of it as simply a "comfort feeding". It seems like most birds want this, even the budgies I used to breed hung on to that last comfort feeding for as long as they could, lol. Then one day they just all of a sudden want nothing to do with it.
Handsome indeed.
I always feel a certain solidarity with the small macaws. My Patagonian Conure is almost 20 inches long and about 250 grams, so he's similar in size and... just kinda LOOKS like a mini-macaw.
Reading about Maynard reminds me of the early days with the Rickeybird. I love that expression. So bright-eyed and curious and... dare I say innocent?
Thanks for sharing.
