Hi, yesterday I introduced a Female Green Cheek Conure to my Male. It seems like they instantly hit it off. He started feeding her and he preens her throughout the day. I gave them a nest box this morning and the male is constantly chewing the entrance hole and going half way inside. When the female comes over to him when he's by the nest box he doesn't seem to like it. My question is he keeping her away do to being territorial or is he just checking it out before he lets her check out the box? She just stand there watching him but can't go to the entrance. Thanks.

In the wild, it's the male conure who finds the nest cavity & begins excavating it, before he brings his mate around to show it off.....maybe he's upset you trumped his thunder.....he'll get over it......
