I've been reading about making natural perches, and how you prep them so they are safe.

One of the types of tree that was recommended was paperbark, which I totally get because *I* like tearing up the bark, so it must be heaven to a parrot.

But the instructions I've read mention scrubbing branches, and soaking them and heating them up really hot. I can't help but think that would destroy paperbark and/or catch it on fire along with the pathogens.

Does anyone have any tips for using paperbark?

I just cut my branches, look them over to see if there is any mess on them. If there is I don't use that one. In the 20 + years I have cut hundreds of branches out in the country way from any one to use for the birds, Never had a issue. Cut , shake hard, and place in the cage.
