While I don't post all my art here, I just finished this drawing and thought it too cool not to share with my fellow parrot lovers on here (I know not all of you have social media). This is my VERY artistic interpretation of (IMO) one of the most beautiful parrots/animals in the world- the majestic major mitchell cockatoo! While I loosely stuck to the profile and color scheme of the actual bird, I used pattern and color to really create something pretty cool! It's drawn on black paper using a technique where I layer gel pen over colored pencil. Some of the gel pens are metallic so it catches the light as it moves:14: Actual size is 9x12" Enjoy!
Also, for those of you on instagram, I'm running a little 'contest' until Wednesday to win a custom drawing in a similar stye. Looking for suggestions of crazy animals to draw (not just parrots) so if any of you are interested, you just have to follow+comment a suggested animal @aprilcarrilloart
In the next few weeks, I'd love to do a similar 'contest' on here if the mods would be amenable to the idea
