Magoo a big stepup

well yesturday Magoo for the first time since i have had him, steped up from his cage to my hand. of course it was to reach a nut lol. then after that i would offer my hand he did not step up unless the nut was there but would show intrest in my hand not fear or ergression so that made my happy. he is talking more and exploring the out side of his cage more.
he still will not go up to the playgym i made for him yet. he has started looking at it more and placing his peak on it some.

Great job, Magoo is learning, LoL even if it is with a treat.... that's how they learn.
Pertaining to the play gym, he is getting rather curious, by touching his beak on it. He will eventually go and instigate. If you want to speed up the process, stand near the play gym, with him close by and kiss the play gym. By watching you kiss it, he will know it is safe and fun to kiss it as well. When he is ready and willing he will begin to play on it.

Congrats! It was the same thing with Tori, my GCC. It was even a mission to get him to step up for me when I had his favorite treat waiting for him. After just a little while I started showing him the treat, so he knew I had it, then hiding it and asking him to step up. when he stepped up I'd give him the treat. After a little while of doing that, he would step up without me even showing him the treat. Now he's happy with a simple "good bird"

The same goes for Tori with the playgym, actually. Even simple perches I put in his cage, he's wary of at first. He didn't want anything to do with the playgym...till I covered it in sunflower seeds. =P I swear, my little birdy thinks with his stomach. I'm sure you'll get your Magoo to enjoy his playgym too. Maybe put some of his favorite treats on it, or one of his favorite toys.

I'm so glad to hear magoo is getting used to his new home, sounds like you ares slowly making friends. Whether he was reaching for a nut or not, that is still a great sign, I know plenty of birds that don't care what kind of treat you have, they're not gonna step up! Great job!

Yes, I learned a few weeks ago that if I rub my face on it, Pete will suddenly accept it That's apparently his cue that it is safe. So now he's accepting toys and food more readily if I do this. For the first time in about a week he took a Nutriberry without my having to rub it on my face.

Progress is progress, and such nice news! It's so heart-warming when they begin to trust us, isn't it?
