I just finished a new activity mat... I got the 14"x14" seagrass mat from My Safe Bird Store. I think it was around $3.99? I've seen pre-made smaller ones at the store for $30!

As you can see, I had a little "product tester" come out just as soon as I hung it up. It's 5 minutes later, and 'someone' has already destroyed a lot of it already :52:. That's okay, actually the busier Griffin is kept with toys, the less he's in Raven's hair. It gives Raven a break from the little guy ;).

Looks like I'm going to have to buy a case of balsa wood blocks!

I love it! I really oughta get one of those mats one of these days! Looks like it's a hit!

Hey Casey! Good to see you again :)

I love these mats... I've made a few, but this is the first bigger one. I think your gang will love them too.

I couldn't seer the picture :(

Edit: Now I can see it:) Very cute! You did a great job. I think you have a real talent for making busy boards:D I hope Raven gets some peace;)

I'm definitely going to have to make one of these for the conure brigade. Those two are a menace unless kept occupied! :)

Julie, you did a fantastic job as always! That should keep Griffin busy and give Raven a break from babysitting. It's astounding how much money you can save by making your bird's toys, and it's so much more rewarding.

Your little toy tester is absolutely adorable standing above his activity mat. Looks like he has a plan.

Hey Casey, good to see you! :) I've missed you and your flock.

Great job I am going to need to get off my butt and make mine, I am still thinking about what I want to attach.

Julie, that looks amazing! No wonder Griffin is obsessed with it, I want to play with it:) Did you put together all the toys attached to it as well?

And Casey, I am thrilled to see you again! I have missed you, Sweet Pea!

Did you make the mat or purchase it , What a great idea!!!

I purchased the mat. I don't think my weaving skills are up to par for that lol. ;) I did put together all the toys on it from odds and ends.

Thanks everyone! It's a lot of fun and more rewarding to make it yourself. It does save tons money. Those pre-made ones aren't cheap.

I love it! I ordered some of the mats from MSBS too, this looks so fun. How do you attach the toys to the mat?

Depending on what seems most appropriate for the particular piece, I'll either use very thin leather laces, or some flexible plastic string called S'ghetti made for bird toys. That can be chewed off quickly, so I only use the S'ghetti for things that need to be fastened on the back where they can't chew it off. An example of it is the little red ties that I put on the purple wicker ball. I had to be more creative about the attachments on this one since I didn't realize until last minute I was almost out of leather.

That looks great! Awesome job!! :)

Sweet mat, Julie! Creative as always!

Make sure to post the "after" picture as well!
