Hello, I've got a gold and blue macaw and im not sure how old he is. People say you can tell by the size of their pupil or something to do with their eyes. Can anybody tell the difference? ill upload some pics later.

Without an accurate leg band on the bird with either a year of birth or if you can trace it, there is no way to guess the age of an adult bird. Avian vets can try, but they could be off by several years!

You can judge the age of the Macaw. if majority of the eye is dark in color, this means the Macaw is very young. As the Macaws matures, the pupil gets smaller in size, the outter of the eye changes to a pale yellow, this means that you have a mature Macaw. you cannot narrow it down by the Eye but you can tell if you have a young or older Macaw. Best of luck. Joe
