Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Mine was all just working with them, and adapting techniques that I've used with other birds over the years.
I don't know that there's anything all that different in training a macaw vs. any other large parrot. (Other than the fact that they're at the high end of the birdie manipulation scale.)
These birds are so attention oriented, that if you turn it into a game, and playtime, you can teach them almost anything. If there's a big secret to macaw training, then that would be it... not exactly a secret...
I don't know of any 'macaw' specific books, but these have rather good feedbacks:

Hmmm choices choices...
Thanks for the recommendations. Now to decide which one to get.
I'm getting a baby blue and gold so I wont be trying to train a menace. Just want to do a bit of extra research. The best breeder in the uk also lives only 10 miles up the road so he's always a good source for info.
