After hearing about everyone's constructive and nice comments i decided to do another painting. The lorikeet had water spilled on it :( so I started one on a scarlet macaw. This one I happened to finish this one...so here it is! (I know this isn't about parrots directly, i just want to share my work with you guys :D)

Cute! Although I think that is a scarlet with a Greenwing face! <3

Lovely! You should keep doing more. I enjoy art but I'm terrible at it myself. I liked the lori one you did too. :)

Thanks again to everyone! Makes me smile when I read these... :)

That's really good!!!! I'm very impressed!!!! Of course I liked the Lory painting too. :)

Oh I meant that Scarlets don't have facial patterns, but green wings and blue and golds do. It's just a minor inaccuracy though--- the rest of it is better than the Hyacinth I painted (zero feather dimension haha)

No, i meant that facial pattern wasn't intended :p I picked up the painting thinking it was dry (I worked horizontally) and some red paint dripped downward. could have been worse :D

Thanks everyone! I will do a blue and gold, IRN and maybe a galah soon :D Maybe just make a thread dedicated to all the paintings so i do not waste space on the rest of the forums :p

You should never paint your macaw. The paint will stick to his feathers.;)

HAHAHA...not if it's watercolors ;) They are so pretty...don't even need paint! But maybe a little touch here and there on those african greys or vasas :p (don't really paint your bird though 0_o)

i really really like your shading! are these water colours? i find water colour paints hard to work with myself. i can't stay in the lines where i want to with water colour lol you do such a nice job on your paintings :D

ETA: seen above comment regarding water colours lol

Well i used a lot of water to thin the paint, that gives it a nice feathered texture :D

have you ever wanted to try oil paints? they're tedious to use, and can take awhile to get used to, but i'd bet you'd be able to do a really nice job with the feather texture with oils :)

i prefer acrylics the best, but i enjoyed working with oils before. they take forever to dry though.
