Hi I'm a new owner of a rescued macaw, Oscar . Oscar is a girl however. I have had birds most of my life but never a macaw. Any help would be appreciated.
Oscar was housed alone in a breeders aviary. Used to be someone's pet 22 years ago. I am committed to making a better happier life for Oscar. We are both learning.

I also have Quakers,Indian ringnecks, cockatiels, but nothing prepared me for Oscar.

Thanks for letting me join and I look forward to learning as much as I can absorb from forums and members.

Hi! I am new to the forum (and large parrots) myself! Welcome!

There are a lot of very helpful members here, I'm sure they will be able to answer any questions you have. I notice you have some smaller birds - nothing like jumping in headfirst with the big ones! Mine is a rescue too, with a history of neglect and drug exposure - meth. I think we've made it through the withdrawal period and now we're starting to work on a schedule for him. It's a challenge, but every time you see you're making some progress, it's worth it!

Welcome! How long have you had him? I have never had a macaw but they all can be a challenge! He is very lucky to have a home now. What is he like?

A warm welcome to you and Oscar! Sounds like Oscar has had some rough years, thank you for giving her a chance at a brighter future. We'd love to hear more about Oscar and the rest of your flock. Please feel free to post photos of all your feathered darlings.

Welcome to you and Oscar. I have never had a Macaw so cannot give you any advice but there are some very experienced Macaw owners here or perhaps I should say experienced people owned by Macaws and I know they will have lots and lots of useful advice and tips for you.
