I keep my parakeets on the front porch in the daytime.
Five days ago a Macaw appeared in my large tree out front. He has remained there and is answering my duck call, and whistles, or so it seems. Someone must be sick that they have lost their nice bird. If anyone has any good ideas about how to get this bird down with out injury, please advise me .
I put a white sheet down with peanuts, guava, and corn, and some ham, so far the bird is just moving around up high, and trimming leaves off.

Welcome to the forum. I've been waiting for an update. If your guest is still in your tree after five days he needs to come down pretty quick. Have you tried searching ads in your area or leaving your contact information with every agency you think his owners would contact, police stations, veterinary clinics, pet stores, humane societies. Maybe even drive around your neighborhood and look for lost pet posters. I think I would try to enlist help from somewhere and use a ladder and a net, the bird could be injured and unable to fly. It's kind of you to try to help. I hope the macaw and his family are reunited soon.

As weird as it sounds, many domestic birds who escape are actually afraid to fly down from where they ended up, as they've never had to fly in "natural" conditions before. Plenty are clipped too, so they may have caught a gust and glided up into the tree but unless they make a 'death leap', they really have no good way of getting down. Is he up there all the time or does he come and go? If he hasn't left, he probably can't get down on his own. Call the local animal control and have them come out to retrieve him. If he comes and goes, then he can fly and your best bet would be to continue to try and lure him down with food/calls and start contacting places people would report a missing bird. His owner(s) has the best bet of luring him out of the trees and is probably missing him very much.

Located miami Florida, The bird was in a tree across the street, in a black olive tree, close to a mango tree, with fruit, some yard guys tried to climb up and catch the bird, next i saw he was in my tree about 150 feet away.
Its about 45 feet up to the top where he likes to be. Is it maybe easier to sneak up and catch at night ?

Can you put a stick with a right angle bend in it (like a stand) and hold it in front of the Macaw's talons and shout "step up" - it might work!

There are some wild ones down that way and this one is probably one of them. Forget about thinking that you can sneak up at night and catch him. Maybe put out some foods every day and you might entice him to stick around more often and you can enjoy him.
