I have a goal to have at least one big tail feather, and maybe a couple smaller feathers, from every species of macaw, including hybrids, that is available in the pet trade.

After I've graduated and I have moved out I'm going to do big paintings of each species and hang them around my house. I'll have a feather off to the side of the bird attached to the painting. I actually plan to do this with a lot of species that I already have feathers from(mostly raptors), but the macaws will be the largest. I'm so excited for the day I can finally do this, I'm waiting to start until I have a good amount to avoid my style changing between paintings.

So far I only have three species
Blue and Gold(lots since I personally know one)
1 scarlet macaw
3 Harlequin macaw(2 tail, 1 primary)

I'm not really expecting people to send me any, but if you decide to I would be overjoyed. If you decide to send macaw tail feathers(wing feathers are also great, but for the paintings I need one large tail feather) you can also send a bunch of feathers from any of your birds and I can make you a wall hanging and send it back to you. :) It takes a lot of feathers to make one a foot across, but I can change the size of the hanging depending on how any you send.

Here's the feathers I have so far

Here's were I keep a lot of my feathers, then I have a long sword box that I store the rest since the vase was too full. It's usually arranged much prettier but I had just put all the macaw feathers, as well as Rosie's feathers, back quickly to take a photo.

It's a great way to keep them from becoming damaged... I used to keep it super full, and I had all the feathers beautifully fanned out. It was to top heavy though and kept falling over at the slightest wind.

yup, lots of blue and gold feathers lol. His name is Sun Dance, he's awesome! He loves when I scratch him under his wings and dance with him lol

That's how I keep all my feathers to! Ours is getting rather full though, I'll have to see if I can get you an emerald macaw tail feather:p, I'll see if I can get one this molt coming up from her. I can probably help you out with others at some point and time as well because I doubt you will find many other bluffons macaws and well blue throated are really the same as blue and golds so not much difference...

Thankyou so much JTbirds!! It's ok if it takes a while, it would probably be easier for you until you have feathers from all the birds you want to send, rather than sending them as they molt. Is the emerald macaw at your work? I would love to see one in person one day, I bet seeing one in person is the only way to really appreciate that amazing deep green. First time I held a hyacinth I was mesmerized by that deep blue.

Emerald macaws are unreal, no other parrot looks like them! Buffons and blue throat are also species I knew I would have trouble finding, especially the buffons :D

The emerald macaw is willed to me from a lady:p so it is my bird in years to come you can see a picture or two of her in my albumn. Btw I don't work at the rescue that is all volenteer!

I personally like the hyacinth better the the emerald macaw colos but both are very beautiful and great birds! I am so happy everyday to think this lady has chosen me to take those two birds when she passes.

Well I don't have a buffons I have a bluffons which is a buffons blue and gold hybrid:), and he blue throated tail feathers don't look any different then blue and golds:(. I can't help you with a buffons I haven't even seen one in person! I can probably accumulate some other neat feathers two like major Mitchell cockatoo I know two or three of them and so on:)

Let's make a deal......I volunteer at a rescue and we have feathers GALORE! I occasionally sell them to help raise money for us. I'll be happy to collect a bundle for you and mail them to you for free. All we ask in return is that you promise to help spread awareness about the plight of these beautiful creatures. So many parrots in this country are abused, mistreated and neglected. Many of those birds have no feathers left to give you. We take them in, nurse them back to health and they find good forever homes for them. Send me a private message so that we can exchange details.

Well I'd like to add for cooper that she does an amazing job advocating for these wonderful creatures already! I am sure she would do more though!

I checked out their facebook and website, they seem like a fantastic organization! One thing I can do is give a bunch of Rosie's feathers to a women who makes jewelry and the profits go to Mickaboo :D

Thankyou, I would do as much as I can to the best of my ability :D

There is a hyacinth that boards at the rescue from time to time. I will find out if the owner saved any of her feathers. If not we know lots of macaw owners. perhaps you should post a list of the ones that you still need. then I can ask our group if anyone has those birds.
I make hats and hair pieces to sell as a fundraiser for our rescue. I need feathers of any color between 3 to 8 inches. I have tried the macaw feathers but they do not curl or strip well, so are not suited for millinery. I think I only have macaw feathers from the birds you already have.

If you still need a greenwing's tail & flight feathers, please PM me your address. My daughter took a large number of feathers a week or so ago because her husband & brothers-in-law need them for their dance regalia, but Goose-The-Greenwing gifted me with another tail feather just this week (and flight feathers are on their way, too).

The shafts of the feathers will be chewed, however - Goose loves them so an they ARE his, so what can I tell him?
