Lucy won't come down:(..

Well I brought Lucy a new cage.. Set it all up... Everything was going great..She immediately took a liking to it and started using her swing and playing... I then placed a rope perch at the very top of the dome.. Now all she does is sit on that rope perch.. She doesn't play..she doesn't come down off the rope not even to eat..( she will eat if I place her on her stand..).. Seems she really loves that rope perch or hates everything else..

Thoughts opinions?? Should I remove the rope perch?? Or should I give it time.. It's only been two days??

How long has she been there? Two days straight? Or do you mean it was two days ago when she decided she enjoyed being there all the time?

She has been in her new cage for two days.. Well day one (Thursday Evening) she was placed in her new cage.. She immediately jumped on her swing and started playing.. Just before bed I placed the rope perch inside the cage(it is the highest perch).. She climbed on and the next morning when I uncovered her she was still there..I as always took her out of the cage and placed her on the play stand ... Last night as always I placed her back in her cage.. she again immediately climbed to the top and stayed there until this morning...

You have a number of options - it won't hurt to try a few different things if you like. You might try relocating the rope perch to a lower, more accessible level within her cage. That way she'll still be able to enjoy the perch, but she'll no longer be up in the dome area where you can't easily reach her. Or, you could try removing it. But that's not likely to solve the problem if you ever decide to put it back in the same spot. You can also opt to simply leave it there. If you do that, she may progressively become less inclined to spend as much time on it.

She likely feels the place you've positioned the rope perch gives her the most control over what happens within her current environment -and she's probably right- so makes her feel fairly secure.

i agree with plax she is high enough up to have a great postion and command. Honeslty if she moved around and enjoyed everything before the rope perch then remove it. She will probably revert right back to running around and so on instead of being a perch potatoe.

If you remove it and never put it back up there id say the problem is gone you could postion it on the front of the cage in a u fashion, but the fact she is able to be so high is why she isnt moving around id be willing to bet.

Well today I walked into her room twice and found her on her swing playing with her toys.. She does seem to prefer her top rope perch.. As when she isnt playing or eating she is sitting there.. she doesn't seem to display any aggression when I reach in to have her step up she climbs down and steps right up...

I believe you guys are correct she feels more secure there ... So I'm leaning towards leaving it in there for the time being so she feels secure in her new home...She was a plucker and she is doing 100% better....

I thought there was issues getting her down to, in that case if she is content let it be as long as she is moving around and not just sitting there as she needs to be active of course..

I guess I jumped the gun.. I always keep my guys out on there stands in the screened pool enclosure.... I bring them out around 8:30am and bring them back in around 6pm.. The few hrs I observed her before lights out..(She is on the opposite side of the house) she stayed on the perch... Today was the first day I didn't let her out..and she is moving around playing

Very good to hear . That's why one of the options I mentioned is to consider leaving the perch there in hopes that she will progressively become less inclined to spend as much time on it as she adapts. And, yes, considering that she has dealt with stress issues in life, I think providing her with a favorite in-cage perching place should be very good for her emotional well-being, especially if it's not inciting dysfunctional behaviors.
