Lovebird Behaviors

Hey everyone! My Lovebird “Kiwi” is coming up on 1 year old. I’ve owned her for about 3 months now and much has changed. When I first got her, all she wanted to do was hide in my shirt, hand, socks, anything. Now she buzzes about the room screaming and squeaking. Kiwi has definitely become comfortable....
Some things I wanted to ask is about the behaviors of Lovebirds? Now I will say that she is very nippy and bites really hard. I’ve learned to just take the bites while still controlling her as I have somewhat rough hands. On occasion though she will make little kissing noises and let me pet her wherever I like. She makes these very loud “clicking/grinding” noises with her beak sometimes when I put my hand near her, if anyone knows what that means? We’re definitely making progress, but very slowly....

Welllllllllllllllll... lovies are SPECIAL, so I'm bumping your thread in hopes of attracting some expert/personal attention!
Certainly sounds as if there is some hormonal action going on. Those clicks and grinds mean pleasure and affection, in "Patagonian".
I do recall reading an apparent consensus here that lovebirds can reach sexual maturity at 9-12 months of age, soooooooooooooooo... it's about time.
Here's one of the important considerations with the Rickeybird. I hope this might be helpful... Ever since the Rickeybird became a rooster at about 3-4 years of age, I've had to manage his hormones! If kept on too steady a long day, and too much light, he stayed "in the mood" (aggressive, even louder than usual, pleasuring himself on my neck ) year round. If I keep him on a natural light schedule... up with dawn, down with dusk, year around... THEN he's only a little monster for few months in summer). He has his own room, so I can do that easily.

Is she biting you when you hold her or when she is standing on your fingers.

The clicking noise is her bonding with you and her first signs of sexual maturity. The clicking noise is also combined with sometimes scratching head when you get near her, head movement, small dance, regurgitating motion. different lovebirds have different combinations of those or all of them. You will soon find her pleasuring herself on your head or shoulder or hand. She might also find some thing like a cloth or surface to do it with.
