Paco, our newest foster is doing great. She is actually the quietest of the 3, and she is very gentle! It's kind of nice to be able to have her on my shoulder or hold her knowing she isn't going to attack me. Her nails have been trimmed and she is in quarantine, on medication.
Im not sure if Kiwi is opening up more (it's been 3 months) or if it's just hormones, but on Sunday I was singing to her and she just put her head down, gave me the eye, and jumped at my head before I could get away. She jumped onto my head, bit my head, and then got her feet stuck in my hair, flipped upside down and began biting my upper arm about 5-6 times in the same place. It bled, it's bruised, skin is definitely broken, and it's a big welt. She then jumped off me onto the floor and I just put her in a cage and went to react in the other home. We have been working with her daily, on her stick, flying her, petting her, stepping her up. She lets my bf pet her very well, but when I try, it's very difficult. She also screams when im home, but not in her view. Ive been doing my best to ignore it or just put her on a perch nearby. It's going to take some time I supose.
Beako is doing great, still on her Asper. Medication and she loves to fly (holding onto my hand) and loves toys. She destroys wood blocks. We've made some big orders to mysafebirdstore.com in the last few months! Lots and lots of toy making supplies.
Tomorrow someone is surrendering their African Grey to me, they no longer have the time. She has been boarded a lot and has plucked badly. She's the CAG I mentioned in the past. After tomorrow, our home will be full! Any tips on bringing a scared bird into a new home is much appreciated.
I hope all is well with everyone out there!!!!
