Alittle over a year ago I lost my 18 yr. old lory to a bacterial infection. The circumstances were questionable and to this day I still grieve his loss. He was a wonderful companion, friend and playmate. Coping with his loss has been very difficult for me because I expected him to be with me for another 10 to 15 years. The illness was unexpected and shocking. My heart goes out to all of you that have lost a companion parrot. They are so intelligent and beautiful. I don't think my life will ever be the same since his loss. I was interacting with him day and night and the emptiness is overwhelming. I expect him to be in so many different places and theres nothing but emptiness and quiet. This is the hardest loss I have ever experienced.

Welcome, sorry your lost and your first post got lost! It is so hard, but you either your loved ones bury you, or you bury them. Someone has to go first!

Words well said , sorry for your loss :(. Know the feeling of disbelief when you feel they went before their time.

Deepest condolences for your loss. We miss our little ones in so many ways and for so long. You are in my thoughts.

I am so sorry for your loss:( It is so hard when we are expecting to have so much more time with them. My heart goes out to you.

Welcome and so sorry your feeling sad. I think there is a lot of us that know how you feel. And there is a lot of us that will listen and be there for you. I lost my Amazon n Mother's Day this year, people on this forum have been a great support team for me. Don't hesitate to vent or share stories or pictures. We are here for you..sending you love and feathered hugs.

I'm very sorry you lost your Lory at such an early age. Pet birds bond so incredibly closely their loss is magnified intensely and over time. You are amongst many friends who have loved deeply and lost.

I'm so sorry for your loss and completely understand how difficult it can be.

Taylor has been gone now for 7 months and we have since welcomed Baxter into our lives. But I still grieve for Taylor - shed some tears for her just yesterday.

I am so sorry. :( I know how hard it is when this happens. It has always helped me to get another pet after I have been done grieving. Although it seems you never fully do stop grieving. My thoughts go out you.

I'm so sorry for your loss and pain - I know very well how it lingers and we never stop missing them. Hugs to you!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. So very kind of you. It helps to know others have lost and grieve as I do for an extended period of time. I will try to send details and pics of my wonderful Rainbow.
