Soooooo

Cal has come on leaps and bounds yet again.

She will fly to pretty much anyone who puts their hand out - usually if she thinks it's a "stepping stone" to Mum (me) lol.

She's taken to wanting to be on me all the time and where as previously she was delighted to sit in her cage in the shop with us, she gets antsy and I have to put in my finger so she can stand on it lol. Then she wants to "kiss" my face.

In the evening she rummages round impatiently when we're eating dinner and the second that plate gets put down she's on me lol. It's cuddles and purring and cooing and rubbing and snuggling all evening. Too cute. Last night she was being that "manic" in her kisses, I literally could not get her off me lol. She was all up in my face kissing my cheeks and grooming my eyebrows....NOTHING would distract her. She ended up actually ON my face. One foot gripping my nose, one gripping my lips. Dave took a picture. It's hilarious but unfortunately my face is THAT screwed up I look like I've had a bad reaction to hair dye or something ha! Next thing I know, she's regurgitated what looked like a sunflower seed and some mushy grape onto my lips. NICE!!!! It wasn't vomiting, it was way too precise.

I eventually got her off and she snuggled and cooed under my chin until bedtime. It took a few attempts to get her back home (normally she goes first time) Everytime I said: Give me a kiss she wouldn't because she knows that means bed time!!! haha!

So endearing, so hilarious and I'm delighted that she feels so strongly for me. It's also kind of sad because now we have to work on some rules I think. Bless her though. I love this bird so, so much.

I thought some of you might want to hear how she's getting along because since day one I feel as if some of you are like her Uncle's and Auntie's from all over the world. For that Cal and I say a big big thankyou and if you were here, we'd regurgitate allll over you to show our appreciation ;) haha xxx

Hie-hie that is to precious and I love your sense of humor!:D

Some might tell you that it is completely wrong that she sees you as her man and that she wants to mate with you. They will also try and force you to buy another parrot for her. (But I think those members are gone;))

It is nice to be loved, they ask so little and give so much!:D

LOL Thankyou Linky!

Yes, I can imagine what "some might say" ;) but she's 4 months old so right now it's not an issue. It WILL be if I don't get it sorted lol!!!! A fully grown Sun Conure hanging off my face would not be ideal.....

Such precious, precious darlings. If I could split myself between 6 places and grow extra arms I would adopt as many as possible!

OMG I cant even start imagining that!

Totally different species, age and history but maybe not as different as we think -dont know. Sterretjie used to preen my eyelashes and be ALL over me but this obsessive behavior changed after a couple of months and she is now more independent. She is STILL loving but can play by herself as long as she can see me. She is very aggressive towards my husband thou but I think that has got more to do with her past.

So, a lot of times problems sort themselves out. ;)

Von, that is awesome how much Cal has decided she loves you. You're right though, you might want to establish some ground rules. That whole regurgitation thing can get a bit gross, by human standards (though it is hugely significant to the birds...ultimate sign of bonding).

Even when Gandalf was having a cranky molt day, I knew I was still numero uno in his world if he tried to share his lunch with me. ;)

That's so fantastic Von
best news
I wish I could have that with my birds
mikki is opening up more and more each day
he said hello to me this morning in the sweetest voice I have heard from a bird yet and made a few little whistles
he had even started to nibble at a few of the toys occasionally
Merlin is on the mend thankfully and will be returning to his original owners in a few weeks time

Thanks all!

I combatted the face mountaineering last night!

Cal FINALLY let me groom her back....my girl now bows her head for a neck scratch ;)

Seems to only be her neck though as I tried the top of her head, but that was met with a squeak of disgust and a frankly, way over the top evil eye. So neck it is then!

To stop her thinking my face was Ben Nevis, I got her ball with the bell in it and we played a game where she took it from one of my hands, waddled across my tummy and put it in my other hand. To do this we only had to play for about 20 mins. She's SO clever :O! This girl blows my mind. She REALLY enjoyed it. She was doing her patented Cal purr all night.

She ALSO investigated the cage we bought her a few weeks ago properly for the first time and discovered the natural branch. IT got a lot of purrs too lol!

I'm loving that she's loving life - here's a pic for you!

Dj, I'm so glad Mikki is happy and that Merlin will return to his flock. I didn't know he had come from a cage with yet MORE birds!!! Now all becomes clear with the little pudding! You've done the best you could have done for him though and gained experience while you were at it which is all any of us can do! Well done xx

That's wonderful! And sooo adorable! Congrats, and may you have many cuddles in store daily! = )

Thankyou!

She's just gorgeous. I love taking her cover off every morning. I have to restrain myself as she doesn't get up until about 9.30am-10am! I'm up at 4 and it's so difficult not to peek and see whether she's woken up the wrong side of crazy or not haha!

she is so cute! and she will become even more prettier when she'll grow up!
