Looking for advice...

Well first of all I would like to say hello to everyone as I am new here. My name is Tracy and I am the proud "mommy" of a 2 year old Senegal. We brought Popsicle home about 4 months ago.

Well I am now looking for some advice on how to deal with a problem I've recently ran into with her. My boyfriend has recently went away for a week to return home to a very cage territorial senegal. She doesn't mind me around her cage or have my hand in her cage. My boyfriend on the other hand is another story when he stands next to the cage she lunges forward at him trying to bite him. She was never like that before he left but once he returned she is like it. She is friendly once outside her cage but while in it, thats a different story. If anyone has advice on how to deal with this I would love to hear it.

I am guilty of attributing human traits to birds, which is a mistake.
But it sounds like the bird had a week of being the "master of the cage" and now really likes it.
I know it will be hard, but how about you ask the boyfriend to do everything for the bird for a couple of days?
If only he changes the water and put treats in there, Maybe the bird will look forward to him coming to cage coz he always has good stuff.
I am by no means an expert and have only had a bird 3 weeks.
So take it all with a grain of salt.

Redballoon is spot on, get your boyfriend to do all the good things concerning the cage, Putting treats in, food, etc Does Popsicle actually bite him when he puts his hand in the cage or only lunge forward at him? If she does bite, then ask boyfriend to talk to popsicle through the bars, and give a treat, if she won't bite then get boyfriend to put hand in cage to give treats, tell him to try (and I know its hard) not to pull hand away. I hope some of these suggestions work. Popsicle has gotten used to being master of her house and letting boyfriend know this. She's taking it very personally that he dared go away and leave her. Please let us know how you get on with this.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll be sure to let you know how everything goes with Popsicle. It will probably be a slow process especially considering she is a very picky parrot that likes no treats. So I'll keep trying to find that special treat that she loves. Well hopefully I'll have some good news soon about her. Thanks.

They are not healthy, but Skippah would kill a leopard for sunflower seeds.
Hand him one and see if that does it.

Well I tried several different seeds and nuts and they usually get tossed across the room. A little comical to watch actually. She does seem to like Nutri-berries, so we'll have to use them.

Well, Maybe if you take him out so your bird isn't in its territory then. As Redballon said have him try feeding it a sunflower seed.

She is a different bird out of her cage it her in the cage that we would like to work on.
