Look who i Just got!

Hi everyone! It’s been a while, now that school started. Junior year is ALLOT more work. On the first day I had homework in almost every subject, and within the first week I had homework, an essay, I have tests coming up, quizzes ect...but...in all the stress we have to find ways to slow down and spend time with our birds. Blackjack will be happy to "help" me with my homework, the finches are hatching, and I’m getting a dove for my 16th birthday! It’s a newly weaned white ring neck dove, like the kind magicians use. It’s a girl and her name will be Belle. And to top it off, she is completely tame and friendly! I will be picking her up in a few minutes ! Ill post pictures when I get her!

Awesome birthday present! I wish my parents had supported my animal-loving habits when I was a kid. I wasn't allowed to have anything until I moved out on my own.

Sonjs, so true. My mom never wanted the birds, or my cat, but now that we ave them, we can't turn back, of course.

Congrats! My mom never was a fan of animals, on my first try of getting a budgie I got a betta fish LOL. But after a few days my mom knew I was a capable 11 year old. So my mom found out my weakness that I would do ANYTHING for a bird so she told me if I get principles honor roll I could get a sun conure! You got a good dove , is so calm, you better post pics!

That's such a cool 16th birthday present. I got a ring for mine... LOL. I do like the ring, it doesn't make messes, demand attention, require feeding, etc. I wish my mother was better about loving animals. My father loves just about any animal except birds... he's petrified of them. I still live at home with my parents (I'm a very broke college student lol) and he hates going past my bedroom because they hear him and call to him.

lol i know what you mean, every time blackjack hears us he calls. when i first heard him scream i nearly jumped out of my socks lol. my parents love animals, but my dad wasn't crazy about birds. now he has an african grey friend at the pet store and my mom tells bird stories XD.

Dad walks in at 5 am together some yogurt. He opens the fridge. As he takes out his strawberry flavored yogurt, he hears a GIANT mix between a xylophone trill and screech a conure would make. He yells " WHO WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!" the whole family comes downstairs to find a big pile of yogurt on the floor at the feet of a Freaked out dad and 2 little budgies fighting over a swing at 5AM IN THE MORNING. Let's just say my dad isn't a fan of birds.

+ on the present front, my birthday money usually gets spent on the animals. I've also had cages and whatnot for my birthday. I'm happy about it tho, it's a great present knowing that my babies get something new/better for them!

ok, so i have changed her name to Eliza..i think....its so hard to decide XD. i havent been able to get the pics on my computer so Im going to take pictures tomorrow i promise lol! she is SO soft and is making progress with bonding
