I have a 7 year old male Parakeet who has a beak that keeps growing, I have to take him to the vet to have it trimmed 2 times a month, it because he won't chew on anything, the other 3 chew up any thing they can get to.
What can I do to get him to chew to keep his beak short, he eats like a horse and plays all the time he just won't chew, can any one help me to get him to stat chewing again ? I know this sounds a bit odd but then most of my pets are a little on the odd side, the 4 keets came with the house the old owners moved out and left them behind ( may they rot in h-ll ) there all happy and full of life I just want charm to keep his beak shorter
Thanks for all and any help you guys can give me

Have you tried taking his food out for periods of time and replacing taken out food with a cuttlebone or certain toys to use/play?
My friend did this and it worked after about a week or so. Don't leave all of the toys in, maybe take out a favorite and only put in when food is taken out. If he eats a lot, then he may be just eating out of boredom. Give him 'times' to use toys/cuttlebone that will help/encourage him to chew.

Dee, thanks for your help, I cleaned his cage today and moved every thing around, this didn't make him happy but in time he was busy checking every thing out and now is chewing on his toys and have a small pile of wood shavings on the bottom of his cage, don't know if its because hes mad or the change helped him to start chewing
