..about Kippy that is!!

Every time Lee (fiance) and I are over on the other side of town we always hit up the local "bird store" and without fail I go in there with feathers flashing in front of my eyes like cartoon hearts. I race to the back of the store where the parrots are, excited as can be and start making introductions.

"Oh, you're a cutie!" "Aint you sweet!" "Oh, look at the Caiques!"

And then...someone bites me, or poops on me, or the Amazons get to screaming, or the little adorable GCC convinces me to hold him again so that he can get a death grip on my hand and use me as a chew stick (the face gets me every time!!), or I pick up a parrot with poop on his feet, or something happens in some why that makes me long for my well behaved Kippers!

I must leave the store with flying saucer eyes every time, because my fiance says that I always give him the "never again" look! Which is why I frequent my local bird store, it brings me back to reality on how lucky I am to have such a sweet parrot! Does anyone else get this feeling? The "Lord have Mercy I'm going home I want MY parrot!" feeling, which always makes my fiance die laughing.

No. As much as I love and appreciate Ralph the Quaker parrot, I always want to bring home the ones I visit at the pet stores-- even the ones who bite or poop on me. :D

I feel like that when I'm around loud birds. I don't mind macaws but I can't stand the call of a conures, especially suns. It's so piercing. I run home and feel lucky that I must have the quietest birdie in the world. (As I dance around like a idiot making stupid noises to teach her it's ok to make noise, never works)

I'm with you there Copperarabian!!!!!!!!!!!! But I lived with two conures for 3 years of them driving me insane slowly with their never ending scream....The only one that screams the most in this household is Java the U2. But he is quiet at times, but when he gets into his mood he'll scream ALL day, at least it's not an on going issue...lol

I actually feel this way about children. I dont have any, at 25 Im still a student and I have a long way to go. Sometimes I get the baby urge, and then I visit someone else's baby and it starts screaming and pooping and drooling and puking and Im like, no thanks Ill stick to my bird and my ponies.

HAHA! I know that feeling! My fiance and I have the "Not until we see the world talk!" at least once a month! Quite a few of our friends have babies and young children and while I love getting to play with them I am SO happy when I can give them back when they need a diaper change. :09:

My conure only screams when he wants out of his cage so I guess I'm lucky. He is very good at training... me that is. Every time he screams I get him out and put him on my shoulder and he rewards me with being quiet lol.

To the OP, I know what you mean, but we have a pet store in the local mall and I still can't resist walking by without having a look. As soon as we get home its usually a beeline for the cage.
