What a cute little voice! :) Is Porscha fairly new to you Terri?
Yes shes a very plucked girl . I took in at the beginning of December. I saw her and had a gut feeling she would do better with me . Whats interesting is that the lady had her for 10 years and told me she was a GW . Shes a lot smaller that my GW Ruby . Well her feathers
were growing in along her back. They are a bunch [like a section of pale yellow feathers].. Which means shes not a GW but a hybrid Ruby macaw. Shes been to the vet and has no medical issues . She had started plucking in Sept with her owner. But get this, she told be she had been in the hospital a lot for heart problems ,works a lot of double shifts and had a new boyfriend that hated birds. So what ever the reason Im sure these things contributed to her plucking. I have her on a new diet , feather riffic and aviclam.Shes a delight :)

Oh wow, so Porscha is a Ruby, and Ruby is a Greenwing! :D

Please keep us updated on Porscha! I wonder if she was plucking at all before all the upset in September? At least she'll be happier with you :) you're a good birdie mom!

She reminds me so much of Sailor in looks and behavior. I was looking at Rubys when we were considering a macaw because they were one of the few larger macaw species available in Illinois. It's surprising to know how much smaller they are than GWs, I wonder why. If they are the offspring of greenwings and scarlets you'd think they'd be comparable in size. Maybe it was bad diet that made her small?

I'm not sure why but Sailor only talks like that when she's extremely uncomfortable and nervous. Which for some reason she's decided my youngest child is really scary to her. My daughter is 13 (the smallest of us) and very sweet/kind. I have no idea why Sailor would pick her to be afraid of out of all of us. She will literally go from talking like that with wild eye pinning to full on loud squawking when my daughter comes near and tries to hand her a treat. The first time it happened my Dad was over and had his back to her surfing the internet. When she squawked he nearly fell backwards right out of the desk chair haha. He startled so hard he nearly unseated himself in the process :)
