When I posted my idea about the dissolving bird cage bottom (go review the post if you haven't seen it yet) and a user named SilverSage gave me and my group some good ideas, our favorite being the shoulder pad so when your bird is on your shoulder and poos it will not fall on your clothing and damage it or make you have to clean it. We would like to know which we should do though!

-A self-automated cleaning cage so you dont have to clean it as often
or...
-A easy snap-on shoulder pad that is easy to clean so when your bird is on your shoulder and poops it wont fall on your clothing

We would like to see which you would like to see more! Thanks for the time!

Keep in mind we are directly making this product for budgies and conures but it may work on macaws and cockatoos as well as other big birds!

depends on how much of a challenge you want, I have seen a thing for the poop catching done. The self cleaning cage would be a god send I think people would agree but it would be a big challenge to get done

We are beginning to find a way that it will work WITHOUT harming the bird, and it wont be complicated. :D

Self automated cage cleaning please!

Ok thank you everyone! We are not going to be able to to a complete self auto-mated cage but we have thought of something. First put very thin openings to the bottom of the cage (on the side). Then slide a stainless steel plate into the hole to just detach the poop thats stuck to the board (you would have a plastic board at the bottom of the cage, or some type of board that does not harm birds). Then you will have a second opening on the same side of the cage, then slide the stainless steel into that opening and leave it there (I will explain shortly). You will then have a tank of water with a tube running down into the bottom of the cage with a VERY VERY VERY small amount of dawn (dawn is the safest soap for birds). The reason for the stainless steel above there is so the bird does not get access to the water and does not drink it! You will open a simple flap or opening so the water will run through the bottom of the cage collecting all the debris and everything else. You would leave the water in there for around 5 minutes allowing it to collect all debris, you would then have another tube at the other side with another flap for you to open and then the water will exit the cage with all the poop and debris. It will all get dumped into a bucket and you will dump the bucket and boom! Clean cage quick and easy! (keep in mind we will be running MULTIPLE tests, this is how it is expected to work but we will have to make multiple prototypes.) :blue1::red1::blue::red:

:45: The poop clothing protector is a fantastic idea that I am sure many of the Forum Family will love. Think about adding some loops so that you can attach toys to help keep beaks busy. I designed a simple velcro collar that works well for me. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR INVENTIONS!

I don’t allow Levi on my shoulder and he does not poop in his cage. Or on me for that matter.

But, if I have to choose I’d go w/ a Self Cleaning Cage. ;) For those times when we’re out & he’s in his cage for hours.

Looking forward to reading the results.
