Listening to the Blackbirds?

Hey guys, just curious about my 1 year old conure... He listens to the blackbirds outside and he chatters away to one of them every so often and it goes on for ages. So I played him some blackbird noises on youtube, and he seemed to be very happy and chatted back. When I tried playing some conure noises he went really upset and hid down my top... Is this normal, and why did he do this when conures are his closest bird relation (sorta).

Might try playing some other conure noises for him? Although I would guess that he's becoming accustomed to the noises the black birds make.

I would have to agree with Monica. His ears are attuned for the blackbird flock now and with no other conures to vocalize with it might be confusing for him.

Jasmine talks to the blackbirds too! Our next door neighbour has a heron scarer on his pond that makes bird of prey noises. ... So jasmine also makes screech owl and buzzard noises !!!!
