Okay I've had Pearl about 5 months now and I've noticed this sometimes. Every now and then, she poops but the pee comes out pure liquid. She mostly has normal poops with the regular colored and the white in it but I noticed there is usually still a little bit of liquid. She just did this on me and it got my shirt wet. I'm guessing this isn't normal? She eats Pretty Bird African Special and various fruits and veggies. Her behavior is normal she eats and drinks but this has me worried. So do you guys think I should take her to the vet or is this normal?

I don't mean to rush but I would like an answer lol. Because if its serious she's going to the vet today so I would like to know. I'm just worried.

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Im not an expert, but all I can tell you is that it sounds normal to me. This is exactly what my Galah does. I think the liquid is just normal wee . Hope this has helped a bit :D

Ok thanks. I just didn't know because I'm new to parrots and every little thing I notice with Pearl I research everything about it. I just want Pearl to have the best life I can give her so until I get more knowledge I'm on alert lol.

Thats ok. Sometimes, Rosie if she is in her cage puts herself flat aginst the bars and does a wee and if im standing there it goes over me :(
Ps How old is Pearl?

7 months old today!

The white part of the birds droppings represents uric acid, the main waste produce of protein metabolism. This is referred to as the urates, it is excreted by the kidneys of birds together with what under most circumstances is a relatively very small quantity of clear watery fluid which is the birds urine.

Polyuria refers to excessive urine production as indicated by more water than usual around the droppings.

The most common cause of polyuria is a normal body response to taking into the body more fluids than usual by the bird eating a lot of fresh juicy greens such as lettuce, silverbeet. celery & fruits. This is of no concern as long as it stops within 12 to 24 hours of withholding the greens or fruit. If not a Vet visit is in order as there are other reasons for it.

It is normal for birds eating lots of greens & fruits to pass a lot of urine.

It seems like it always after she eats her vegetables now that you mention it. When she did that on me this morning it was right after eating a bunch of broccoli.

If she is healthy & all seems normal i wouldn't worry it's very possible she had a big drink of water before you fed her.

Like i have said if she keeps passing to much urine best to see a Vet as there are other medical reasons that can be the cause especially if it doesn't clear up.

She seems the same as the day we got her.She has done this for a while and it's maybe once or twice everyday or so it's not something done frequently.

When to worry:- If normally bright white colored urine is tinted pink, red, green, yellow, cream or orange, this is usually a very important clue to disease affecting the kidneys, liver or blood stream.

Okay she just crawled up on top of the cage and she squirted out just his liquid no poop.

I would take her to the Vet. That is a sign she isn't eating. She may appear to be eating but maybe not. I have helped as much as i can, now i think it's up to a professional.

Thanks you. It appears some poops are even almost all water or liquid. Thankfully none of that. I'm going to have her on just pellet for the next 2 days and I'll update back.

Pyro has all liquid droppings from time to time and sometimes cloudy white ones. I'd say maybe once every other day, but about half of his poops are liquidy. When I took him to the vet, she told me that birds on formula consume more liquids therefore have liquid droppings and this is normal. She tested his droppings to be safe and found nothing abnormal. I was worried they were stress droppings, but she doesn't think so. She was able to visualize about 5 droppings he left while we were there and she didnt seem alarmed. Its always nice to get confirmation from a vet though when unsure.

Puck's poops vary a lot with what he eats. Occasionally he'll go all clear, but not very often. It's often more liquidy if he's been eating more fruits though. It's also often the color of the food he's been eating. :)
