Firstly I would like to say thank you for accepting my application to join your community, I have been searching for a forum dedicated to the gorgeous Linnies but haven't found one.

I am looking for some advice regarding my Linnies, Jade & Emerald, they are 3 years old and poor Emerald has just broken her leg. My vet has advised that surgery isn't an option and that it will heal naturally in 3/4 weeks in a hospital cage without perches.
The problem is, Jade is not happy at been separated from her pal, I put them back together and they are happily cuddling up to each other on the base of the hospital cage.
My question is... will it be ok for a perfectly healthy bird to be denied the use of perches for 3/4 weeks?

Yes. It isn't ideal simply for comfort and sanitation purposes, but a few weeks with no perches is better for them than a few weeks without each other :) and having the mate will likely help with the healing.

I hope to get a Linnie or two someday, but they are illegal in Hawaii :(

Welcome to the Parrot Forum.

I would recommend that you use the search words: Handicap Parrots or Handicap birds. There is a wealth of knowledge on the internet for this subject. Also, your parrot will adjust beyond what is at first believed. Be ready to adjust to the parrot's needs.

Thank you SilverSage and Sailboat for your advice and words of assurance.
It's day 3 since the broken leg happened and Emerald is looking quite perky given her unfortunate circumstances.
I will continue to give a progress report if that is ok.
