Linnie First Words!!!

I've been house sitting for my parents while they are on vacation so I have only been seeing House and Wilson once a day. I get them out when I come visit, clean and feed them and we hang out for an hour or more.

Anyway, Wilson has been taking the routine change hard and yesterday kept turning his back to me and pouting before he decided he had to have kisses. But today the boys were extra happy to see me. After being attacked with kisses and cuddles, Wilson snuck off behind me on the couch to look out the window. He was doing his wolf whistle and all of a sudden I heard a very quiet but very clear "pretty bird." He said it several more times. Evidently he has been using his extra alone time to practice his words!!! I'm so proud of him!!

I always thought House would be the first to talk because he is much louder and chatty. They both learned to copy my whistle within days. But I think Wilson is always listening and watching me talk. He loves sitting on my shoulder or chest and stare at me intensly. I just can't believe how much I love these linnie babies!!!!

Thanks! I've never heard a linnie talk so I wasn't sure what to expect so I was suprised how clear it was. I know I'm always raving about Linnies but they really are amazing little parrots. I definately want to eventually get a larger parrot, I'm thinking GCC, Crimson bellied conure, or pionous but I think I will always have linnies. They are just so fun and loving little birds

I'm curious - what did your Linnie's voice sound like? I ask because my male Linnie's voice was very clear, but he sounded like a robot!

He is 1/2 of a bonded pair of former breeders, so he likes me, but not as much as he needs his girl. And I still have 'get a companion Linnie' on my bucket list.

My next parrot (after the Linnies) was a white capped Pionus. Very territorial [and I was the 'territory' he owned]. Very much a one-person bird. But if that doesn't put you off . . . the BEST companion parrot. Ever. I just had to manage him a little bit when other people were around. And when I lost him (heart attack, I think) I couldn't believe how such a little guy could leave such a big hole in my world!

He hated my husband & while I am happily married, if I were to ever be single again . . . one of the first things I'd do is look for another white capped Pionus.

Not robot like at all, very pretty in like a whisper. I think it sort of sounded like he was copying me because I say it quietly to him when I'm giving him kisses Definately get another linnie. I sometimes wonder if I had gotten a single how sweet they would be. The brothers together are sweet so I can imagine one kept alone or in a seperate cage would be a real dolly!
