Parrots
5 Parrots, 8 year old Blue-fronted Amazon, 2 1/2 yr. old African Grey, 2 3/4 year old Senegal. 5 month old ekkie, 5 month old Albino parakeet. Major Mitchell Cockatoo, passed away at age 68.
I was at the store and decided to pick up some Lincoln logs...for my birds.
My wife thought I really went over the deep end getting Lincoln logs for the birds.

Well this evening had a great time playing with my Grey and built a log house and he went about tearing it apart the first time.

On second attempt, he took the roof off and climbed inside... the look on his face was wow, cool house in here...then tore it down from the inside.

He tried to make his own house....Ha ha....well sorta...didn't amount to much. Zon came over and wanted to play with the Lincoln logs as well.

Goes to show birds don't always like the traditional bird toys....Heck My Zon Poppie likes her "Barbie" tends to groom the dolls hair...LOL.

My other Zon likes her toy horse the best, you can't get that from her
sometimes.

My Senni.....well he has to Kill everything and destroy it to bits. Nothing is safe with buzz saw... He'll chew up the dog if he gets a chance.
A terrorist.....a terrifying terrorist!!! LOL.

Sounds like they had a blast!
I would totally buy one of those, granted I find one, for a foraging toy :D !

Sounds like fun! Birds get so excited when you play with them. I rarely buy Kiwi parrot toys anymore. Most of his toys come from the toy section of the goodwill. Sometimes the checkout person will see the rattles and action figures I buy him and ask "oh, how old is your little one". "Well, he's about 16 and covered in feathers". I get a look like this--->

I find a lot of great toys at the dollar store! Oliver loves the cat ball that has a ball inside the ball. It serves as an awesome foraging toy because of the open slots to stuff food inside and clean up is a breeze as it's plastic. I love the idea of zLincoln logs...have to seek that for sure...

Ha ha ha ha ha.....that's the funny part of buying bird toys, from garage sales, thrift stores, in the kids toy section....at check out they ALWAYS ask
how old y kids or grand kids are....I say they are for birds, the look I get sometimes as if saying " Kids toys for birds???" yep best toys there is...seriously....they are curious creatures and love new things.

I had to google up what is Lincoln log, but it definitely looks like fun for the birds! Are they made of safe wood? :)

Oh you really have got to try this....First I have all birds around me....one on perch, one on shoulder...one on the dining room chair, another on dining room chair...

Then I proceed to build the log cabin house as they watch in total curiosity... The look on them as they watch and look back over at me, then you can see how they watch every move you make with it.

My birds have a pecking order...or toy playing order...My grey is first to examine the house, look inside the windows and door of the Lincoln log house....Then My oldest Zon...the other Zon and senni prefer to jus chew a log. My grey actually tried to stack them.....My Zon however took pleasure in throwing log after log onto the floor.....LOL But all in all they were all quite entertained and was a great day of play.

Yes it's safe wood....child safe a well, same as the colored wood used for bird toys....very same. You'll have a blast with this and your birds. Great thinking for Greys, Amazons and ekkies. Though any bird will find this very amusing to interact with you in making a log cabin...t's the interacting as they see as playing and bonding as a flock to problem solve....

Try it...you won't be sorry....I found this log set at a thrift store, but walmart, Kmart, Meijer's has these.

I buy lots of toys from goodwill shops too. The funniest thing I've ever seen, though, was a Fisher Price house given to a colony of mice to nest in. They looked so cute, basking on the roof and peeking out the windows or the chimney. I begged my son to let me have his Castle Greyskull for the mice to live in, but he wouldn't. :( Then I tried the daughter, who never played with the Pepto Bismo Barbidol house. Same reaction: 'you're not putting mice in my Barbie House!!!' Hnf! Kids today have no imagination!

huh! That's pretty cool!

I may have to check out the local goodwill for some kid's toys! I just wasn't sure if the colors and such were bird-safe. One would assume that if its child safe, it would also be bird safe... but just never know!
