Light spot in Blue & Gold's eye

Greetings everybody. I'm hoping you can offer some help. My blue and gold macaw is 23 years old and we have just moved to a new home. While we were in the process of moving and my bird was out in the bright sunlight, I noticed that he had a light spot in his left eye right in his pupil. His other eye looks normal--the pupil is black. But in his left eye, there is a distinctive light spot in his pupil. At first I thought it might just be the reflection of light on his eye from the sun, but when I brought him inside to our new house and inspected his eye closely, the light spot is still there. Does anybody have any knowledge of what this might be? He doesn't seem to have any vision problems whatsoever, and to the best of my knowledge he has never damaged that eye in any way. I won't be able to get him to a vet for a few more weeks so I am just hoping I can identify some possible causes/solutions in the meantime so I won't just be freaking out that my bird is going blind. Thank you all in advance for your time and help.

At this age I'm thinking it could be the onset of cataracts but with the quick development I think you are right in thinking it may be a light spot.

. I have never heard of this happening before but it sounds concerning. I would be getting your bird to the vet sooner than a couple weeks, possibly an emergency vet visit TODAY. I fear if you wait too long, your bird could very well lose vision in its eye permanently. A certified avian vet should be able to tell you what's going on here, will be able to look into the eye to see what is going on and possible treatment/cure.

Please keep us updated on your baby!
