Eclectus Parrot: Jiraiya
My Eclectus Jiraiya is just starting to use his feet to hold things like food. I'm really excited because he drops SO MUCH STUFF, so I'm glad he's finally getting the concept of holding his food so it doesn't fall after one bite lol.

Anyway, it seems like he prefers his left foot.
Wondering if anyone elses bird prefers one foot over the other? Or maybe you find they use both pretty equally?

Jellybean uses his left foot to hold foods every time. I guess that makes him a lefty.

dally uses both, i've seen her do both

she switches feet at about 40 seconds in

A while ago, I read about a study that was done on parrots that demonstrated that the majority of parrots are "left-footed." :) Ralph is in the left-footed majority-- but still holds and grabs things with his right foot sometimes too.

Silus uses both feet, He just keeps switching nuts from one foot to the other.

:32: Which bird?!:32:

Most of mine are rightys...

However, my Red Lored amazon can catch or throw a wiffle ball with either foot, or her beak!

I really do think they have a dominant claw, just like we have dominant hands, and I do think it mirrors humans with more rightys than leftys...

Joey is left footed. Sammy does not use his feet too much, but when he does, I would say that he is also left footed. :)

Kiwi is a lefty, she also uses her left foot to grab on to my fingers when we play-wrestle. Right foot is open for tickling ^.^
